A busy last week with GRC game, TNB Youth Rugby Festival and 6 Nations. This week GRC and 6 Nations are on a rest week. By contrast some of the Age Grade members will be playing friendlies in San Roque, U16’s in FAR and U14’s are welcoming some Bahia players to host training here. The bar will be open for breakfast rolls and lunch – closing at 15:00.
This year is a leap year so an extra day in February, which falls on a Thursday meaning an extra session training in February! Please contact your coaches and refer to SPOND for updates.

Lisbon U13s Tour – Quiz Night Fundraiser
“Our quiz night was a roaring success, raising funds for our under 13’s rugby team’s tour to Lisbon! Thank you to everyone who came out to support us and contribute to this amazing opportunity for our young players. It was a brilliant evening and your support was truly appreciated. Thanks also to the players who helped all evening. They were a credit to the club. Next stop Lisbon!”
Trusted Novus Bank Youth Rugby Festival
Round 5 – A great event with wonderful turnout and support. All coaches remarked at how much the quality of rugby played has improved since the start of the 23/24 Tournament. The children are giving it their all on the pitch and their support of teammates is a delight to watch especially when certificates are being handed out. True sportsmanship.
Look out for Certificate Winners names on Social Media.
A thank you to the Cat and Lucy
Who volunteered in the shop. The more volunteers we have the more regularly we can open the shop.
Can you offer and hour? Please get in touch with GRFU if you can.
Volunteering also sets a good example to the younger players about giving back to your community and club.
TNB Youth Rugby Festival
Please note the remaining dates for Round 6 and Round 7 – the latter is a DATE CHANGE which has been instigated by the pitch upheaval here at Europa Sports Park.
The good news it is also the date for the Age Grade End of Festival BBQ which will take place AFTER the certificate ceremony. Please mark the dates in your diary.
It has recently come to light that due to the Netball World Cup Test Event, we will be required to cancel events on and in the lead up to Saturday 9th March. From 6th – 10th March NO training or events can take place at Europa Sports Park. GRFU will establish any potential disruption to training with Coaches.
Saturday 23rd March
This specifically affects our Wellbeing Awareness Hub event. We have already spoken to those companies involved and rescheduled the event to 23rd March.
The event is close to our heart and feel it is a lovely occasion for members, players and their guests to come up and talk to those charities and companies who have a vested interest in wellbeing.
6 Nations Fixtures
Sadly this means we are also unable to show the Round 4 matches at our Rugby Clubhouse.
No matter, Round 5 has THREE matches in ONE Day! Hurrah!
So let’s get a great crowd together and watch some thrilling rugby at the Rugby Clubhouse on March 16th.
What’s more there are GRC D2, Round 4 games scheduled for 1pm and 3pm on the SAME DAY. Almost 360 degrees of Rugby at Europa Sports Park!
