Press Release, Gibraltar, 23 September – Gibraltar Rugby against Cyprus. Gibraltar Rugby will make history on Saturday 17 October 2026 when the Gibraltar Rugby Men’s XV takes to the field against Cyprus Rugby in its first competitive fixture in the Rugby Europe Men’s Conference.
The home international at Europa Stadium, kicking off at 4.00pm, marks another significant milestone for Gibraltar Rugby following its admission to Rugby Europe in December 2025.
Gibraltar Rugby Football Union became Rugby Europe’s 49th member union following a vote at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting in Alicante on 5 December 2025. The decision opened the way for Gibraltar to participate within Rugby Europe’s international competition structure.
The 2026/27 season will now see Gibraltar make its competitive debut in the Rugby Europe Men’s Conference.
With the opening fixture against Cyprus taking place on home soil. Rugby Europe has described Gibraltar as one of the new faces entering the competition this season.
For Gibraltar Rugby, the fixture represents the beginning of a new chapter for the national side and an opportunity for the local community to experience competitive European international rugby at home.
Gibraltar’s entry into Rugby Europe follows years of work towards international recognition and provides a pathway for the national teams to compete regularly against other European nations.
The Cyprus fixture is the first of Gibraltar’s confirmed Rugby Europe Conference matches, with another home international against Andorra scheduled for 16 January 2027, before the competition continues in 2027.
We are making General Admission for this opening game FREE to all under 18s to come and experience the occasion. Tickets are £15 for Adults, and free for U18s.

Gibraltar Rugby is encouraging supporters, families, businesses and the wider community to get behind the national team and be part of this landmark occasion.
Alongside general match tickets, Gibraltar Rugby will offer a dedicated Match Day Hospitality experience, providing supporters and corporate guests with the opportunity to enjoy the build-up to the international match in a relaxed hospitality environment.
A £50 Match Day Hospitality package includes pre-match nibbles, an open bar before the game, an exclusive Q&A with representatives from the opposition, a reserved international match ticket, limited drink tokens during the game and chicken and chips at half time.
A £100 Premium Pre-Match Lunch & Hospitality package, will also be available. Including a two-course seated lunch, presentations and rugby insight ahead of the match, together with the wider match-day hospitality experience.
