Gibraltar Rugby is excited to announce the upcoming National Team Camp, which will take place on 31 January and 1 February 2025 at Europa Sports Park. This marks the first National Team Camp held in Gibraltar for several years, and it provides a unique opportunity to strengthen connections within the union and prepare for an exciting season ahead.
The camp will bring together players from the senior national team and the under-20s squad, with six young players invited to participate as part of their progression into senior rugby. The two-day camp will be led by Technical Director Alun Harries and National Team Head Coach Lee Fortey, focusing on skill development, team plays, and building cohesion ahead of upcoming international fixtures, including planned home games in March and April.
Building Connections Across Gibraltar Rugby
Beyond training and preparation, the camp reflects Gibraltar Rugby’s commitment to inclusivity and community engagement. On Saturday morning, the national team will lead a joint coaching session with the women’s squad, followed by games and activities for age-grade players. These sessions will bring together players from all levels of the union, reinforcing rugby’s values of teamwork and collaboration.
Technical Director Alun Harries said:
“There are so many good people involved in Gibraltar rugby, doing so much good stuff – we aim to give everyone a platform and to thrive and enjoy themselves as a whole rugby community.”
The camp forms part of Gibraltar Rugby’s three-year plan for the national team, which includes hosting more European fixtures and planning an ‘Out of Europe’ tour for the 2026/27 season. Players attending the camp will also be in contention for selection for home games in March and April, which GRFU is working hard to finalise.
